Home About Us History
Compass Plus was established in 1989 as a successor to a large R&D institute reporting to various governmental bodies and dating back to 1956. At first the company was an industrial automation center and then in the early 1990s became a general information technology research laboratory.
In 1993 Compass Plus completed development of the first version of its new software product family for EFT systems that then was known as A4M. The same year the system was implemented at Promstroybank of Russia to support its retail banking operations.
In 1994 A4M was deployed as a basis of a retail consumer credit system at one of the world's largest steal mills - Magnitogorsk Steel and Iron Works (MMK). Shortly afterwards, in order to support the local EFT system developed by Promstroybank and MMK, Compass Plus has established its processing centre. Today this processing centre is an independent processing company. In 1998 it was certified by VISA International as a Third Party Processor and gained a status of a Member Service Provider with Europay International (now MasterCard) in 2000. Today it processes over 90,000 transactions a day, serves over 30 financial institutions from several countries and is one of the largest EFT processors in Russia and CIS. The processing centre runs exclusively on software products from Compass Plus.
In 1999 the company has re-branded its software family, whereby, following the release of the third version of A4M, the whole product family was registered under the TranzWare trademark. The new product family featured a number of completely new and distinct products and solutions and thus, positioned Compass Plus as a supplier of a complete and integrated solution range to the EFT industry. A lot of products included in TranzWare version three incorporated the results of many years of research conducted by Compass Plus in the field of new object-oriented technologies. The use of cutting-edge development technologies in developing and implementing TranzWare applications enabled Compass Plus to create, within a short space of time, a new generation of flexible EFT solutions that have propelled Compass Plus to the forefront of the EFT market. This defining stage in the company development followed by conclusion of a number of contracts with some leading banks in Russia and several CIS countries for the supply of integrated EFT systems.
International sales of TranzWare commenced in 2000. In the course of this year in addition to implementing many brand new EFT systems, a number of financial institutions have migrated to TranzWare products from other well-known and widely used solutions. A number of contracts were concluded with banks in Europe and Asia. Also Compass Plus representative offices were established in Moscow, Russia and Nottingham, United Kingdom.
In the course of the last five years Compass Plus has continued its rapid development and expansion producing 35% annual increase in business activity. The TranzWare product family is being upgraded and enhanced continuously to enable its users to stay up-to-date and provide truly competitive services to its customers. Such strategy of continuous improvement as well outstanding technological capabilities of TranzWare make the suite “futureproof”.
